By default, the engine employs a highly optimized linear distribution algorithm that divides the data range into equal, easily comprehensible segments. For instance, if you are mapping poverty rates that range from 5% to 55%, the engine will automatically generate a 5-class legend with perfectly stepped increments (e.g., 5-15%, 15-25%, 25-35%, etc.).
